The Cellular Jail aka Kala Pani word is derived from Sanskrit words ‘Kal’ which means Time or Death and ‘Pani’ which means Water. The Jail was a colonial prison in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, India. The prison was used by the British especially to exile political prisoners to the remote archipelago. Many notable dissidents such as Batukeshwar Dutt and Veer Savarkar were convicted and jailed here during Indian independence struggle. Today, the construction serves as a national memorial monument.

Cinque Island

At a distance of 26 km from Port Blair, the Cinque Island is an isolated island in the Andaman Archipelago, on the north side of Duncan Passage, between Rutland Island and Passage Island. They are part of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Cinque Island is situated on the south-western coast of South Andaman in the Bay of Bengal. The Island is geologically classified into North Cinque Island and South Cinque Island. The two islands are connected by a sand bar and therefore are often considered a single Cinque Island. Both divisions of Cinque Island are a part of the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park, which is popularly known as Wandoor Marine National Park.

Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park

The national park is famous for its rich collection of coral reefs, which include leptoseris, tubipora, gorgonians, porites, acropora, fungia, pocillopora and montipora. The marine life of this national park includes starfish, sharks, coral reefs, fishes and turtles. In addition, it also comprises sea anemones, shells, salt water crocodiles and water snakes.The park is home to birds like white-bellied sea eagle, parakeets, Andaman teal, heron, terns, waders and swifts. Wandoor Beach

Close to the Wandoor Beach… one can go for snorkeling and scuba diving at the Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park that covers roughly 15 small nearby islands including Jolly Buoy, Boat, Alexandra, Red Skin, and Tarmugli and explore the beautiful coral world.

Diglipur
Home to Andaman’s highest peak, the famous turtle nesting site, crocodile sanctuaries and a network of caves, Diglipur is the northern most town and a nature lover’s favourite place to visit in Andaman. This island city is among the top tourist destinations of Andaman and provides easy access to various travelers’ needs right from accommodation to sightseeing points. Long Island  
Long Island is completely deserted with very minimal infrastructure. This might be a good camping destination if you are looking for some adventure. But be sure to bring your own gear and food arrangement.
